Substitute Certificate

Two Days That I Worked

Description I frequently substitute teach at a special services high school called Mercer County Special Services. I began subbing there this year 2-3 times a week. On the two days that I subbed this particular week I worked as a physical education teacher. I worked as part of a Phys Ed. Team, however I did have some classes all alone. This particular week the main activity was team handball. At the beginning of each class I had the opportunity to lead stretching warm ups and exercise warm ups. After warm ups we broke into activity. I had the opportunity to lead the activity a couple periods the first day and then every period in the gym the second day on 3/19. I also had to teach health 2 times each day. The lesson was on healthy hygiene. Substitute teaching as a physical education teacher has been greatly beneficial because it is my major in college. I believe the best way to learn is through hands on experience, so I relish every opportunity I get working In Physical Education.

NJEA Student Membership

NJEA STUDENT MEMBERSHIP Being an NJEA student member is extremely beneficial. As a member you are exposed to a variety of great resources. There is a member discount page, and there are all sorts of educational resources. One of the best resources is the e-learning community available through NJEA. It is an online classroom, which provides you an opportunity to complete professional development hours. It also allows you to choose content areas in which you want to expand your knowledge, and take classes on them. This resource is included with the price of the NJEA student membership and it is only 32 dollars a year. I just recently joined NJEA as a student member and prior to that I was a member as a paraprofessional. This organization will help me network and expand my knowledge, so that when I am finished college I can become a successful educator.

Certificate Of Continuing Education

“What Every Educator Must Know About Coaching” I took this class as a webinar offered through the E-learning academy on the NJEA member’s website. This class provides an overview of coaching as a process, a relationship, a specific set of skills, and a powerful strategy for creating change in people. This was beneficial to me because it provided some insight on how to be a good leader. As a future educator some of the skills that were presented will be essential to me in order to be an effective teacher.
