CLIPPERS : THE CLIPPING CIRCUITS USING DIODES HAVE THE ABILITY TO “CLIP” OFF OR REMOVE A PORTION OF THE INPUT SIGNAL WITHOUT DISTORTING THE REMAINING PART OF THE WAVEFORM. TYPES : SERIES CLIPPER PARALLEL CLIPPER

SERIES CLIPPER : HERE THE DIODE IS CONNECTED IN SERIES WITH THE LOAD. IN SERIES THERE ARE THREE TYPES : SERIES POSITIVE CLIPPER : THE DIODE FACING LEFT IN SERIES WITH THE LOAD IS POSITIVE ONE. SERIES NEGATIVE CLIPPER: THE DIODE FACING RIGHT IN SERIES WITH THE LOAD IS NEGATIVE ONE.

SERIES POSITIVE & NEGATIVE CLIPPER SHOWN BELOW :

SERIES BIASED CLIPPER : HERE THE ADDITION OF A DC SUPPLY IN THE SERIES CLIPPER IS USED. THIS WILL HAVE A PRONOUNCED EFFECT ON THE OUTPUT OF THE CHOPPER TYPES : BIASED SERIES POSITIVE CLIPPER BIASED SERIES NEGATIVE CLIPPER

SERIES BIASED POSITIVE & NEGATIVE CLIPPER SHOWN BELOW :

PARALLEL CLIPPER : HERE THE DIODE IS CONNECTED PARALLEL WITH THE LOAD. IN PARALLEL THERE ARE THREE TYPES : PARALLEL POSITIVE CLIPPER : THE DIODE FACING DOWNWARD IN PARALLEL WITH THE LOAD IS POSITIVE ONE. PARALLEL NEGATIVE CLIPPER: THE DIODE FACING UPWARD IN PARALLEL WITH THE LOAD IS NEGATIVE ONE.

PARALLEL POSITIVE & NEGATIVE CLIPPER SHOWN BELOW :

PARALLEL BIASED CLIPPER : HERE THE ADDITION OF A DC SUPPLY IN THE PARALLEL CLIPPER IS USED. THIS WILL HAVE A PRONOUNCED EFFECT ON THE OUTPUT OF THE CHOPPER. TYPES : BIASED PARALLEL POSITIVE CLIPPER BIASED PARALLEL NEGATIVE CLIPPER

PARALLEL BIASED POSITIVE & NEGATIVE CLIPPER SHOWN BELOW :

APPLICATIONS : WAVESHAPPING CIRCUITS. AS A DIODE CLAMP TO PROTECT SENSITIVE ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS. AS A COMBINATIONAL CLIPPER.

CLAMPERS : THE CLAMPER CIRCUITS ARE USED TO “CLAMP” THE INPUT SIGNAL TO A DIFFERENT DC LEVEL. IN OTHER WORDS, CLAMPER ADDS A DC VOLTAGE TO THE SIGNAL. TYPES : POSITIVE CLAMPER NEGATIVE CLAMPER

POSITIVE CLAMPER A POSITIVE CLAMPER WILL ADD A POSITIVE DC LEVEL TO THE INPUT SIGNAL. A POSITIVE CLAMPER IS SHOWN BELOW :

NEGATIVE CLAMPER A NEGATIVE CLAMPER WILL ADD A NEGATIVE DC LEVEL TO THE INPUT SIGNAL. A NEGATIVE CLAMPER IS SHOWN BELOW :

APPLICATIONS : IN THE VOLTAGE MULTIPLIERS. IN ORDER TO PROVIDE DC SHIFT TO THE INPUT WAVEFORM.
