Utilize the 7 C’s to build a winning team
THE ACTION PLAN WHO WHAT WHEN WHY Who-Crew, media, fans, tv announcers, other officials. What-Weekly quiz, suggested film, critical plays. When-Every time and when needed. Why-Build comrade, consistency and courage within the crew.
CREATE YOUR CULTURE BUILD YOUR CULTURE ENGAGE AND ENCOURAGE IDENTIFY LIVE, VALUE, REINFORCE, FIGHT Develop your culture in the hotel, at dinner, meetings, locker room. Since everyone develops the crew culture, let all voices be heard. Value your vets and encourage your new guys to step up. Be what you stand for! Be the identity of you crew. Once you know where the crew stands decisions are easy to make. Live your culture. It must be genuine or it will fracture. Value what and who you are developing. Reinforce it by recognizing potential. Potential for growth and problems. Fight for your culture! Do not allow outside influence to divide. Expect push back from the inside and be ready to work to resolve.
BE POSITIVELY CONTAGIOUS MAKE YOURSELF A CURE, NOT A GERM EMPOWER YOUR TEAM TRANSFER THE BELIEFS AND ATTITUDES WEED OUT NEGATIVITY LEAD WITH PASSION You will lead change on your crew. Decide whether t it a dose of Vitamin C or a virus. Allow input in creating your vision for the crew. Crew creation leads to more buy-in. Have every voice be a part of this process. Quiet can mean resistance compliance comes when opinions are heard, supported and included. Strive for 100%, when the crew is filled with more positivity the production, teamwork and trust will grow. Find the negativity and weed it out. Do not ignore, do not delegate it’s removal. Confront it, transform it and understand where it came from then remove the energy behind it. Lead with passion so others can see it, feel it and move forward within it.
BE THE SAME-CALM OR CHAOS EAT THE FROG FRESH START NO REST FOR SUCCESS Be consistent Be consistent Be consistent Be consistent BE THE SAME-CALM OR CHAOS EAT THE FROG FRESH START NO REST FOR SUCCESS STAY HUMBLE AND HUNGRY Stick to your principles and philosophy through adversity and challenges. Your crew will look to see how you handle them, media, locker room assistants, coaches ect…When there is a challenge do not avoid it. Confront it with a hard starting statement and move forward. (TAKE EX. FROM CROWD) Address the disease of your team, deal with it and let it go. Every play, game, week and season is a fresh start. Look for signs of complacency and do not allow your crew to rest on their last success. Focus on continual growth and foster an environment of development.
communicate Frequently Listen Repeat important messages Create a communication structure
connect Team beats talent Take time to connect Work with vs. work for Personal connections Stay connected Single strong tree analogy. Team beats talent when talent isn’t a team. A famous coach once said, “It ain’t about the X’s and O’s it’s about the Jimmy and Joes” That is very true. Take time to connect with your team. Go out after the game, come in early and catch a local game. Bring the wives on a trip when you are close to home or going to a place they all would enjoy. Call members rather than sending an email. Conference call with a few rather than calling each and going back and forth when there is a play/situation to discuss.
