PLACEMENT TEST INSTRUCTIONS The ACCUPLACER Placement Exam covers two subjects Math and English Your College Transcripts, SAT, AP, and CLEP Scores are reviewed to determine which subject(s) you will need to test for.

Your computer is already setup with the exam(s) that you are scheduled to take: If you are only scheduled to test for Math or English your computer will only be set up for one exam. If you are scheduled to test for both exams the Math will be first and the English exam will follow.

There may be some questions that a calculator is permitted. A calculator icon will appear on the specific question. **There are no exceptions for use of a personal calculator**

Office of Academic Services Placement Testing Scrap Paper Name: _________________________________ RUID: ____________________ At this time please locate the scrap paper for the math exam and write your NAME and RUID Number You are only allowed to use scrap paper during the Math Exam. Please raise your hand to turn in the scrap paper and pencil at the end of the math exam. You will not be permitted to use scrap paper during the English exam. Consists of Three Sections: ENGLISH PLACEMENT TEST If you are not scheduled to take the English Exam the next 2 slides do not apply to you Consists of Three Sections: You will be given 2 1/2 HOURS (150 MINUTES) TO COMPLETE THE ENTIRE ENGLISH TEST Reading Comprehension Sentence Sense *You have 90 minutes (1 ½ hours) to complete the first two sections Essay Questions *You have 60 minutes (1 hour) to complete the essay question

ESSAY SECTION This is an example of the Essay Section. When you get to this section of the exam, please take an opportunity to read the passage and assignment before typing in the text box. When you start typing the timer in the right hand corner will activate. You will be given 60 Minutes to complete the essay. If you are not finished with the essay, your response will be submitted as is.

REGISTRATION NCAS (21) & UC (62) Students : Registration will be in Hill Hall Computer Labs Rutgers Business School (29), College of Nursing (25), School of Public Affairs & Administration (40), School of Criminal Justice (47), or EOF Program: Please contact your perspective school or program if you did not receive a registration date.

Pending Transcripts If you are a Freshman that has taken a college course or a Transfer Student please note: All OFFICIAL transcripts with college credits MUST be sent to Rutgers-Newark for evaluation by January 11, 2013. If you have taken a college course while in High School (HS) you should inform the academic advisor during registration. The University does not receive notification from your HS of college credits you have earned. Official AP or CLEP exam scores also need to be sent to Rutgers by the deadline. It is important that you DO NOT register for a course at RU-N that you MIGHT receive transfer credit for.
