Developing Noun Phrases

What is a noun phrase? Examples: Dog = the noun Noun-a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea Noun Phrase-a noun and any words in the sentence that modify it; words that can modify nouns include articles (a, an, the); adjectives; etc. Examples: Dog = the noun The brown dog. = noun phrase The large, brown dog. The intimidating, large brown dog. Modifier – article Modifier - adjective

Identify the noun phrases in the sentences below: Has anyone seen the little, green parrot? I decided to walk down the yellow, brick road. He gave the crying child a toy to play with. I went to watch the beautiful play. Now add modifier words to create the noun phrases. The __________ child was disruptive at the restaurant. We walked to the _________ farm at the weekend. The _______________ park was open until the afternoon.
