Disaster preparedness Do you know what to do?

Disaster Preparedness In addition to fires, other types of disasters may occur. Examples include tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and bomb threats. In any type of disaster: Stay calm. Follow the policy of the school. Provide for the safety of yourself and others.

Disaster Preparedness All schools are required to have a disaster plan. You are responsible for knowing the plan and responding when a disaster occurs. Rules to remember when a disaster strikes: Stay calm. Stay quiet Listen to the instructions of your Teacher/Administrator Always walk in a quick, orderly fashion.

Tornados All students are to go to the interior hallway in the building. Students are to face the wall, sitting or kneeling Class may be split in half, with students on each side of hall to better monitor. Class should sit quietly listening to teacher directives, and the all clear from principal and/or emergency personnel. Mother's Day Storm-2008 Tornadoes

Flood Students/Teacher are to exit to designated area assigned for your building. Depending upon your location at that time, the safe area will be a area of higher ground. Be prepared to move with short notice, if needed. Always watch your surroundings. Wait in safe zone area, until all clear is given by Principal/Emergency personnel. Hurricanes Macon-Flood of 1994

FIRE!!! Students/Teacher are to exit to designated area assigned for your building. If that area is affected by the fire, know your alternate area. Students are to stand calmly with your assigned class, in a single file line. This will assist with keeping attendance, and knowing if a student is not out of building safely. Wait in designated safe area, until the all clear bell has rung, or given over intercom. Fire Safety

Active Shooter/Lock Down Keep Classroom door closed and locked Cover classroom door windows and outside windows. Students/Teacher will move to the farthest corner in room, away from door and windows. Silence cell phones. Remain quietly in area, until all clear given by Law Enforcement/Principal. Active Shooter in Schools

Bomb Threat Teacher/Class are to evacuate the building, in a calm fashion. Students are to remain with assigned class. Be prepared to wait in designated area. Be aware of weather conditions as you evacuate the building. (Raining or Cold) Wait for the all clear from law enforcement/principal, after inspection has been completed Bomb Treat
