Welcome to the Year 6 end of Key Stage 2 test information evening

New National Curriculum Tests Change in tests 2016 Levels abolished Scaled scores to report test outcomes

New National Curriculum Tests

Common ‘Myths’ ‘My child won’t cope.’ ‘My child is only 11. The learning that really matters happens at secondary school.’ ‘The tests are just a measure of the school’s performance.’ ‘The tests don’t really matter. They are tested again as soon as they get to secondary school.’

Purpose Hold schools accountable for the attainment and progress made by their pupils Inform parents and secondary schools about the performance of individual pupils Used to determine estimated Attainment 8 Score and therefore Progress 8.

Scaled Scores Consistent year on year 100+ Working at Expected Standard (EXS) 110+ Working at Greater Depth (GDS) Each pupil will receive: raw score scaled score confirmation of whether or not met national standard Reported to Secondary School

The Tests Monday 14th May – Thursday 16th May 2018 Questions in order of difficulty (typically) Readers/additional time where appropriate No separate test for most able Writing teacher assessed Tests: English grammar, punctuation & spelling English reading Mathematics
