The Fourth A Film by Joe burden

The Concept Can inventive sound design be used in place of verbal or visual exposition to create an easily disseminated backstory in a science fiction film?

Practitioners Craig Berkey Ben Burtt Sound Designer/Editor for X2 (2003), No Country For Old Men (2007), Hanna (2011) “Sound design for me (…) is the overall thought/concept and execution of the entire sound-track. Philosophically my role as a sound designer is to help filmmakers achieve and exceed their aural aspirations for their films.” Ben Burtt Sound Designer/Editor for Star Wars (1977-2015), E.T. (1982), WALL-E (2008) “A large part of the sound design job is making the right choice of a sound, and not really your technical knowledge. I like accidents and spontaneity, and I pick takes out of my performances that often lead to new ideas that I wouldn’t have been able to objectively reason out ahead of time.“
