Welcome Prospective Scholars CLASS OF 2022

What is the Wagner Scholars Academy? The Scholars Academy is a rigorous college preparatory program designed to help students discover and develop their talents and achieve their best.

What is the Wagner Scholars Academy? Our two coordinators work closely with each Academy member to choose an individualized program tailored to his or her needs.

What is the Wagner Scholars Academy? Our 500 members are challenged by Scholars and AP Classes in all disciplines. All Scholars are required to earn an Advanced Regents Diploma. All Scholars are required to earn membership in NHS, National Honor Society.

What is the Wagner Scholars Academy? Students are strongly encouraged to be an active part of the Wagner community by joining clubs and teams. This is also a requirement for admission to the National Honor Society.

Who is a candidate for Scholars? Our students are chosen based upon the results of seventh grade standardized exams & classroom grades. To be accepted into the program, students must meet the following milestones: For Public School Students: Achieve high threes and fours on the standardized reading and math exams. For Private School Students: Be in at least the 80th percentile in reading and math. For All Students: An average in Math, Science, English and Social Studies of at least 90, with NO grade below an 85. A good record of attendance and punctuality An exemplary record of school citizenship

How are students ranked? The coordinator ranks all applicants by creating a composite score for each applicant, and then ranking those scores from highest to lowest. 44% of the score comes from the standardized 7th grade ELA and Mathematics scores 44.8% of the score comes from the 7th grade final averages in English, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science 11.2% of the score comes from attendance.

To apply to the Scholars Academy you must indicate us as a choice on the High School Program Choices Form. This application is submitted to your current guidance counselor. THE CODE FOR THE SUSAN WAGNER SCHOLARS ACADEMY IS R17F
