LAS JUNTAS DE MILLER Las Juntas de Miller is a unique village located in the extreme south-east of Jaen province on the border with the province of Albacete, in the heart of the Sierra de Segura and within the nature reserve of Sierra de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas. The village was built in the 1950s to house the workers who had been hired to construct the Miller hydraulic station and to supply water to the Anchuricas and La Vieja reservoirs.

DESCRIPTION Partially renovated in the 1990s the village stands in 62,946 m2 of land, a lot of it steep, bordering the river in two places and has pine forest with other species of trees. The limestone buildings, with masonry walls and roofs, are in two blocks of seven houses on two floors, with the third floor not in use. Each house is 170 m2 and equipped for rural tourism and to weather conditions in the area.

The owners’ accommodation is a two storey large building higher up than the rest of the village on a hill. The house consists of reception rooms, kitchen, many bedrooms, bathrooms and other rooms. Outside is a children's’ play area, cobbled seating area and small pond. The house overlooks the river.

There is a church in perfect condition, bar/restaurant, now disused, small sports area and swimming pool. Also 20 more houses in various state of disrepair. Some can be renovated while others will need to be re-built. Permission for this has been granted.

The area is superb for hiking, walking, climbing, rafting, canyoning & paragliding. The lake is perfect for swimming and canoeing. The magnificence of Las Juntas can be enjoyed from the area known as Loma de Paeron where there is natural viewing point offering splendid panoramic views of the valleys. Opposite are Canas de la Muela, home to a large colony of griffon vultures, along with the ancient Iberian settlement of Penbon de los Almendros and the hamlet of Gontar.

The area is stunning with steep valleys, rivers, streams and lakes. The thick forest is full of all kinds of fauna and flora, along with poplar, oak, ash, cypresses, pine & olive trees, a true Mediterranean forest. LOCATION Las Juntas de Miller can be reached from Santiago de la Espada which is 22 kms away on the JF-7038. It is also possible to reach the village from Segura de la Sierra which is 54 kms away following the road towards Rio Madera and La Toba, the journey will take approximately one hour.
