What are CARS/TH? Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme, funded by Historic Environment Scotland Townscape Heritage programme, funded by Heritage Lottery Fund 5-year historic environment regeneration schemes for Conservation Areas

CARS/TH Outcomes Heritage is in better condition Heritage is better managed Heritage is better understood and appreciated Skills are enhanced More people enjoy heritage Heritage assets are used and making a contribution to social and economic regeneration

Fife Has Been Very Successful Partnership between Fife Council and Fife Historic Buildings Trust Approximately £33m invested since 1999 West Wemyss, Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Burntisland/Kinghorn, Dysart, Anstruther, and Cupar Inverkeithing?

Elements of CARS/TH Priority Buildings - restored and brought back into productive use Public Realm Works - to improve the environment Small Grants Scheme– to assist property owners to improve/restore their properties Activity Plan – to engage the local community, improve appreciation and understanding, increase participation and provide training

Why Inverkeithing? Rich but neglected and relatively unknown mediaeval heritage Town centre needs a boost – some regeneration activity underway New Opportunities - Fife Pilgrim Way, Forth Bridge World Heritage Site, Queensferry Crossing
