Gibran Khalil Gibran

Khalil Gibran a Lebanese philosopher , poet, writer and painter, was born on January 6, 1883 in the northern Lebanon.

In June 25, 1895, his mother decided with her brother to immigrate to America, specifically New York with both Gibran and his sisters, Mariana and Sultana, and his brother, Peter.

In the Diaspora Gibran family lived in Boston In the Diaspora Gibran family lived in Boston . His name had been mistakenly registered in the school. There, his mother began sewing work , while Gibran began to go to school in September 30 , 1895. He was put in a special school for immigrants to learn English. Gibran also enrolled in arts school near their home . There was a teacher at the School of Arts named Fred Holland de , who encouraged Gibran and supported his creations when he saw his attempts , His paintings were used as unique graphics for book covers in 1898.

At the age of fifteen, Gibran returned with his family to Beirut and studied at the junior high school and higher education Institute called “Alhekmah”. He began a Student literary magazine with schoolmate and then was elected a the collage poet. He Stayed in Beirut for several years before returning to Boston on May 10, 1902. Two weeks before returning his sister Sultana died of tuberculosis. A year later, Peter died of the same disease and his mother died from cancer. Mariana, Gibran`s sister, only stayed with him, and then forced to work in the sewing shop.

His death: Khalil Gibran died in New York on April 10, 1931, aged 48-year.The cause of his was liver damage and tuberculosis. Gibran wished to be buried in Lebanon, and it had been achieved in 1932. in Lebanon, in what became known later as the Gibran Museum.
