INTRODUCTION The word journal comes from the Anglo-French term JURNAL, was first used in the 15th century. A journal is a periodical dealing especially with matters of current interest. Journal that are available in an electronic format are known as e-Journals.

DEFINITION According to The Harrods Librarians Glossary, an e- journal is “A journal for which the full end product is available on optical disc, over a network or in any other electronic from.”

Journals are known today by different names such as: Online Journals Electronic Serials Electronic Periodicals Virtual Journals Digital Serials

The e-journals can be accessed in three ways: Remote access From the library server  Access through databases
