Presented by: Dawn Erickson, Kylea Coring, Maisam Nouh, Melissa Bluedorn, Kiyanna Hughes, Aimee Maranto, and Kristen Sava ILLiad Welcome to our tutorial of Illiad, Clarion’s Interlibrary loan service, where you can borrow books, journal articles and much more through both traditional mail service and electronic borrowing.

ILLiad Model, implemented in software, of the interlibrary loan process Developed in ILL department at Virginia Tech Created as a result of ILL staff review Result encompasses every action of ILL process Enhances customer service while reducing costs and workload OCLC’s ILLiad is a model, implemented in software, of the interlibrary loan process. Developed in the ILL Department at Virginia Tech, it is the only ILL product created as a result of ILL staff review of the entire ILL operation. The result is a superior product which encompasses every action in the ILL process, producing a highly efficient and effective work environment. This environment enhances customer service while significantly reducing costs and staff workload. In layman’

Access Any page on Clarion’s website (www.clarion.edu) “Library”—top, right-hand, corner menu “ILLiad” from “Library Services” OR Go to www.clarion.edu/395 Select “ILLiad” from “Library Services” One can also link to Illiad through databases and Worldcat Illiad is easy to locate and use from many places when interacting with Clarion’s library. The screens that follow will include instructions on how to log in and reserve materials through Illiad. You can access Illiad by clicking on the links on this tutorial screen and click on Illiad under “library services” or by accessing Illiad’s link when searching for resources. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you can log in from there.

Enter your iClarion username and password. First-time Login It is important to note that at this time, the directions on Clarion’s ID login page are out-of-date. The iClarion portal has been replaced with My Clarion. When using Illiad for the first time, it is very important to have your Clarion.ID number ready. So before using Illiad, your first step should be to locate your Clarion.ID number by logging into My Clarion Tools, located at the top right hand side of the Clarion home page. Then click on My Clarion and log in. After logging in, click on Student Center and scroll down to click on “demographic data” Your personal ID number is at the top of the form. Enter your iClarion username and password.

Clarion id Log in to MyClarion Select “Student Center” Username Password Select “Student Center” “Demographic Data” Under “Personal Information” Demographic Data

ID Clarion ID should be listed first You might want to save this number into your cell phone since it is often needed when dealing with Clarion

Clarion Username Username MyClarion username is s_ followed by first initial, middle initial (if provided to Clarion upon registration), and last name (up to 12 characters) Username and initial password is mailed to student upon enrollment at Clarion When you log into Illiad for the first time, you will need to fill in your clarion id number and other important information before you can borrow anything from the library. This is so they can either ship items to your home or send them to you through your email. The clarion id number for Illiad is the number 9 plus your clarion id number that you hopefully saved into your cell phone. The myclarion username that is needed is your username for desire2learn without the @clarion.edu . Remember this starts with s underscore Your password is the same password you use to sign in to desire2learn.

Fill out the required (*) information. Personal Information Fill out the required (*) information. After logging into Illiad for the first time, you will be prompted to fill out required information. Remember, this is so they can send you the items you need from the Clarion’s library or other libraries throughout Pennsylvania.

Why illiad? Useful when in need of an article, book, or other material Unable to obtain from local source Complete the online request form Material will be sent electronically or through the mail Why would you need to use Illiad you ask? ILLiad is a very useful tool when a student is in need of an article, book, or other material for a class, but is unable to acquire it from a local source. For example, if a student needed an article for research and the article is not available either online or at the local library, the student could request the article through ILLiad by filling out a request form with relevant information about the article. Illiad is especially useful to students in Clarion’s virtual campus since books and other materials in Clarion’s library and other libraries can be shipped right to your home.

Request through a Database Students do not go to Illiad to find a source to borrow, but instead one would find a source they want to borrow and then access Illiad. Most databases allow you to link right to Illiad through the database as with this example. The link will take you to the same Illiad login page that is on Clarion’s library home page. This link will take you to the Illiad log in page

Online request form Fill in all required (*) areas. Complete other areas, if that information is known.
