Types of fabricx Cotton and Linen Many patterns and colors are available in cotton quilting fabricx. This fabricx is 100% cotton. Cotton blends well and are perfect for the projects in the book. Wool Wool is another fun fabric to keep on hand for adding texture. Some small wool companies dye beautiful plain and patterned wools in a huge variety of color

Types of fabric Tulle Sometimes, tulle is used for adding ruffles and textured layers in flowers. Tulle is inexpensive, so it’s easy to keep a variety of colors on hand. Velvet Velvet has texture and rich color. It’s a very soft fabricx. It can be a bit tricky to sew with because it is silky and can unravel at the edges.

Types of fabricx Velveteen Velevteen is another soft fabricx, like velvet. It is a tighter weave and doesn’t unravel easily as Velvet. Dyeable velveteens and velvets are also sold through specialty retailers for dyeing. Felt People prefer using 100% wool or a wool blend felt on hand. They are softer and cut much nicer than polyester felts and are easy to shop for.

Types of stitches Running stitch This can be used as a decorative stitch, or it can be used to tack, or hand- sew pieces together that won’t undergo too much stress. Overcast (Whip) stitch This can be used to keep raw edges from raveling or fraying.

Types of stitches Blanket stitch Blanket stitch is often used for a variety of hand- finished details. People always use this technique from left to right with the raw edge of the fabric towards them. Back stitch Back stitch is technique used most often to repair hard to reach seams.
