Blues scale The, typical, blues scale is built upon the pentatonic scale that we have already looked at. To play the blues correctly you must add the ‘blue note(s)’ Most commonly the blue note is the flattened fifth. Blues chords Seventh chords Similarly to the blues scales, blues chords are built using different notes. Most typically, blues chords add the seventh note of the scale to the chord. Fingerpicking Chords Instead of strumming with your right hand, pick the strings with you thumb, first, second and third fingers. Make sure that your fretting hand (Left hand) uses the same finger positions as already learnt. Try picking between the chords bellow.
