Ε. ΦΛΩΡΙΝΑΣ RULAND Interactive Farmers Support System for Efficient water use management Florina, July 5, 2012  KICK-OFF MEETING

Problems / issues to be addressed EGNATIA VAE 14.09.2018 Problems / issues to be addressed Increasing of water use efficiency in agricultural production will save water that can be used for other purposes as well as decrease water pollution caused by agricultural sources (nitrates, pesticides etc.). This project will provide resources and information to farmers not only to manage water more efficiently but also to achieve the highest benefit from the water, minimizing also the negative impact on the environment. Furthermore the project will be developed to be site specific and to aggregate information collected on the wider scale (region) with information from the specific fields and to deliver a valuable decision making tool for farmers to optimize irrigation for their specific field and crop they are growing. 14 September 2018

Aim & objectives of the project The main objective of the project is to develop cross border interactive farmers support system that will help farmers to improve their water use efficiency, as well as to improve their yields and economical benefits. Furthermore there will be significant environmental benefits as decreased pressure on water resource in the region as result of decreased water use in agricultural sector. 14 September 2018

Outputs 6 progress reports (administration & financial), 4 coordination meetings reports 1 integrated communication plan multilingual communication package (in printed and digital version) that includes the Project's leaflets, banners, backdrops, CDs & DVDs, guides, invitations, posters, promotional gift packages (folders, blocks, pens, etc), entries in local media, press releases Open international conference on sustainable water management 2 workshops 14 September 2018

Outputs Analyze of the soil, land use, water resources, cropping pattern, weather and climate and other existing data for the region and transfer them in geospatial database for further use and analysis, Development of weather/soil data acquisition system in real-time in order to asses evapotranspiration and crop water requirement as major data to derive information for proper on farm irrigation management (SW and HW)ship, Development of the sensors (SW and HW) for on the site acquisition of required data (soil moisture, crop status etc) connected in real time with the central integrated system and used for deriving of site specific information for irrigation water requirement on certain field (downscaling), Development of integrated interactive web based farmers support system for agricultural water management, Implementation of the developed tools on experimental scale for two sites (1 in each country). 14 September 2018
