Presentation transcript:

Responses of serum insulin to selective intra-arterial calcium stimulation in a patient with biochemical confirmation of inappropriate hyperinsulinism. 0.0125 mmol/kg calcium gluconate diluted in 5 mL normal saline were bolused into selectively catheterized arteries as indicated and blood samples collected from the hepatic vein at 0, 30, 50, 90, 120, and 180 seconds. An islet cell tumor was removed from the tail of the pancreas. Source: Hypoglycemic Disorders, Greenspan's Basic & Clinical Endocrinology, 10e Citation: Gardner DG, Shoback D.
