Introduction… Consortia in Karnataka, one of the southern states in India, are still infancy and there is a need to study these models and establish guidelines and technologies. Central Challenge in Research Consortia is the promotion of Inter organizational learning in ways that confer appropriable benefits to member firms. Library professionals are involved with the technological issues in the present situation.

Objectives To evaluate the existing consortia accessed by science libraries with respect to relevance, cost effectiveness, coverage of information resources and satisfaction of users

Conclusion In recent times, many libraries with common goal and objectives have come together to form an informal network to meet the demands of their users. The desire to form consortia of different kind has been expressed in many forums and meetings in Karnataka. This is another strong reason for proposing a consortium model for science libraries.
