Prospective nonrandomized, non-comparative single center study. Purpose To compare visual functions after cataract surgery with implantation of different types of IOL. Prospective nonrandomized, non-comparative single center study.

Examination Preoperatively: - UCVA - BCVA - Wavefront analysis Postoperatively:- UCVA - Contrast sensitivity

Methods 65 eyes of 40 patients 24 (60%) women, 16 (40%) men Mean age: 71,6 (64-84) years Except for cataract, all patients were in healthy ocular condition Surgery: standard operation technique temporal approach incision: 2,6mm Infinity Vision system (Alcon) topical anesthesia

Materials and methods In all patients there was a wavefront analysis and contrast sensitivity. - wavefront - analysis was performed monocularly with Wavescan (VISX, AMO) 3 months postoperatively. - contrast sensitivity (CSV-1000, VectorVision) was measured monocularly with the best distance correction 3 months postoperatively under photopic light conditions (85 cd/m2).

Conclusion We have found statistically significant difference in postoperative measured HOA and spherical aberration between our groups. Results of the examination of contrast sensitivity show that aspheric and aberration free intraocular lenses are significantly better than spherical lenses. These results between aspherical IOL and aberration free IOL was not found statistically significant. We did not find any statistically significant difference in our results of postoperative BCVA.
