Nike advert critical review James de silva

What form is your advert in My advert is a pitch presentation unlike other Nike adverts which are almost always mini dramas. The reason my advert is a mini drama is because the product that my advert it trying to sell is in every shot and if the main focus of the advert. There is no talking and it is not a mini drama so that is how I have come to this conclusion. In every shot there is the shoe taking a step in a different environment. This shows it is a pitch presentation.

What technical conventions have you included to ensure that your production communicated effectively as a advert Pack shot – My pack shot included the slogan which is the main point for the advert. I also had a crep protect collaboration there as well. The visual images I used were just the shots of the person walking as well as the pack shot I used natural light and colour for my shots, I did not enhance or change anything I lowered the sounds of the steps and then put music over the top and the beat fits with the steps perfectly with some editing. My advert it short and sweet and gets to the point quickly so the viewer doesn’t get bored

Is the quality of the technical conversions up to scratch? The shots are fairly steady, and the fact that the shots are in slow motion does help that fact to make it look for steady. The shots are well framed and are relatively the same distance away from the camera. The shots are well lit and are only lit from natural light, nothing artificial. Apart from the music there are no other sound effects apart from the audio from the clips. The shots are in focus and the shots are relatively clear. The shot distances are all relatively the same to maker sure the quality of the advert looks professional. The sound quality of the song is decent so there is no issue there. And the audio from the clips are so quiet you don’t really notice if they were good or not. The meaning is clear as it has a quite short and snappy pace aswell as following the 180 degree rule.

What techniques did I use to develop the brand image in my advert. The music I used was upbeat to make the potential buyers have a positive vibe towards the shoes. The logo was shown clearly in the centre of the screen in every shot which is clearly putting across the logo. What techniques did I use to develop the brand image in my advert. The music works perfectly with the video as when the person steps, the beat from the music syncs well.

What are the needs targeting I your advert It is a mixture of two needs from Maslow's hierarchy of needs. It is part self-actualization because they are buying them because they want to get better at sport and have good footwear which will do the job well. And then on the other hand it is also self esteem as they want to be wearing a good brand and look cool in front of their friends. They want to show others that they can afford nikes rather than a cheaper alternative.

Elements used to appeal to target audience I have made my advert short and snappy and gets right to the point because that reflects the fact that getting a pair of Nikes is easy as well as the fact that if your wearing Nikes, you may be faster and perform better at activities. I also used upbeat music to give people a good vibe about nike.

Focus group People did like my advert and said that they liked the fact that it is short and sweet and gets to the point. They don’t like adverts that drag on and on for ages and are unclear on what they are actually trying to sell. My target audience is really just everyone because I wanted to emphasise the point that a Nike shoe is durable and there is a shoe for everything so there is no reason to shop anywhere else.

conclusion Overall my advert was a success. People understood the point of my advert and liked the fact that it was short and sweet and emphasised the point that I was trying to get across. If I had to do this again I would have got more shots of the shoes in more places to show more of what they could be used for. I would have also got a girl to do some acting to show that the shoes aren’t just for men and there is just as big of a range and reason to by a Nike shoe.
