Mrs. Jeffers’ 3rd Grade Newsletter For the week of: September 5th – 9th News: Please remember Main Idea Bags are due Friday, September 9th. You will find our word study pattern on the back of this newsletter. This will be a weekly addition. Also, attached to our newsletter are our Worldly Wise vocabulary terms. These will be a bi-weekly addition since we test every other week. Please use these to study with your child at home! Weekly homework will continue this week. Your child will be given a math packet on Monday and it is to be completed and turned in by Friday morning. This will be a homework grade. Any work that is placed on the “return to school” side of your child’s folder PLEASE return. Unfinished math packets will be frequent. No School Monday, September 5th. This week we will explore Biographies. Writing: Personal Narratives Word Study: Review of adding –ing to Vowel Consonant (VC) and Vowel Consonant Silent E (VCe) words. *Our spelling test reviews patterns, not a specific set of words!* Science/ Social Studies Vocabulary We will begin studying the following terms’ definitions and meaning: ambition, auction, coast, current, frail, intelligent, novel, resident, starve, and volunteer. This week in science, we will review lessons 1-4 and have a chapter test on Friday, September 9th. *ALL TEST, LESSON, AND CHAPTER INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND ON THE WEEKLY OUTLINES AND VOCABULARY PAGES. STUDY!  In social studies, we will finish up our exploration of Australia. Math We will explore how to estimate differences and using place value to subtract numbers. We will have a chapter test Friday, September 9th.
