What’s New in Scouting Ministry? We have so much good news to report. In the next few minutes, we see some of the highlights.

New Resources! Ministry to 1.3 Million Training Scouting Ministry Specialists New Agency Programs Bishops Dinner, Scout Sunday, PRAY UMC Recognitions and Awards → The United Methodist Church Scouting Ministry include 1.3 million youth and adults meeting in and outside of our churches. We have new training. The Scouting Ministry Special Program is growing. We have new programs, resources, and recognitions.

Scouting is Evangelism Scouting is Mission Scouting is Evangelism Scouting is Ministry Nurture – 25% UMC members Outreach – 50% unchurched Scouting may be their only church contact Many join our church Some Scouts in church more than members Role Models – 27% Single parent homes → About 25% of those in our Scouting Ministry are members of our local churches but 50% have no other church home. 27% of children grow up in single parent homes. Parents cite Role Models as an important reason they join.

1.2 Million! → Open Doors to all… 25,000 Camp Fire, BBBS 324,000 BSA Scouts chartered by UMC 326,000 UMC Scouts chartered outside 125,000 Girl Scouts come to our churches 110,000 UMC Girl Scouts go outside 25,000 Camp Fire, BBBS 290,000 Adult leaders 1.2 Million! → We charter over 370,000 youth in our churches but almost as many UMC youth meet outside of our churched. Plus there are Girls Scouts meeting in our churches and again UMC Girl Scouts meeting at other organizations. Scouting Ministry also includes Camp Fire USA, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, 4-H, American Heritage Girls, and adult leaders
