Mr Benn and the Big Top By : Aarani Year 1G

It was a busy morning in Festive Road and there were children laughing noisily in the street. Mr Benn looked out of his window. He saw a little boy playing with a mask and making his friends laugh.

‘It must be fun to dress up and make people laugh’ thought Mr Benn ‘It must be fun to dress up and make people laugh’ thought Mr Benn. Then he remembered the shop he knew that had lots of costumes. So Mr Benn put on his hat and walked to the shop.

When Mr Benn arrived, as if by magic the shopkeeper appeared and he showed him a baggy suit with a big colourful bow, huge shoes and a bright red nose!

Mr Benn went into the changing room and put on the clothes Mr Benn went into the changing room and put on the clothes. The suit was too big, the shoes were enormous but when he put on the red nose and looked in the mirror he burst out laughing. Then he walked through the door that led to an adventure!

As Mr Benn opened the door he saw that he was in the countryside and in front of him was a funny little clown’s car. Mr Benn jumped in and set off down the road.

All of a sudden Mr Benn found himself in a traffic jam, not an ordinary traffic jam but a circus traffic jam. The road was blocked by massive, heavy rocks that had fallen onto the road.

Mr Benn had an idea. “I think I can help!” said Mr Benn and he ran back to his car and drove off. A little while later Mr Benn found Smasher the strong man. He was as strong as an elephant! Mr Benn asked Smasher to help him.

Smasher the strong man smashed up the rocks that were blocking the road but there was another problem ahead. The falling rocks had broken the bridge.

The circus performers were not sure what to do. “How will we get across?” They said. Mr Benn had another idea. First he sent the acrobats to cut down some trees. Next he got everyone in the circus to join the bridge together. Finally the bridge was finished and the circus carried onto the next town where they put up the big top and started the show.

Just then a magician in a sparkling cloak appeared. He looked familiar Just then a magician in a sparkling cloak appeared. He looked familiar. “I will now make a person disappear.” He announced. “Mr Benn would you help me?”

Mr Benn stepped into the magic box and he found himself back in the changing room of the shop. He got changed, thanked the shopkeeper and set off for home.

When Mr Benn got back to Festive Road he put his hand in his pocket and found the funny, red clown nose. “That’s just what I need so I’ll never forget my adventure.”
