Eye-tracking (gaze-tracking) and its application in medicine

What is eye-tracking? It records where people look at We can follow what the user pays attantion to in real time The participants gaze is marked by dots and lines, resulting in heatmaps

Underlying technology Eye-trackers use near infrared diodes to generate reflection patterns on the corneas of the eyes of the user (red-eye effect in fotos) These reflection patterns, together with other visual information about the person, are collected by image sensors Together with very sophisticated image analysis and mathematics a gaze point on the sceen can be calculated, i.e. where the user is lookng

Eye-tracking in research and diagnosing: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Schizophrenia (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9DIW_z6i_E) Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diyX5HiyGXc) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Parkinson’s disease Alzheimer’s diseases Eye tracking in combinations with conventional research methods or other biometric sensors can be helpful for diagnosing diseases. Fixation is linked to attantion = moving your eyes means moving attantion!!

Eye-tracking to help in communication
