“Tsunami Warning Lifted”
Officials in Japan have lifted tsunami warnings and advisories after a strong earthquake hit off the coast. A tsunami warning had been in effect along Japan's Fukushima coast after the magnitude 7.4 quake hit at 5:59 a.m. local time on Tuesday (3:59 p.m. EST Monday). The quake triggered moderate tsunamis but they did not cause major damage. After seven hours, the warnings and advisories were lifted, but the agency told residents to remain cautious — that another large quake could hit in the next few days. Fukushima residents should evacuate coastal areas immediately and move to higher ground, it said, and "damage due to tsunami waves is expected.” The Japan Meteorological Agency says that this most recent earthquake was an aftershock to the magnitude 9.0 quake that hit in 2011 and caused a deadly tsunami in the same area. Tuesday’s quake occurred about 75 miles southwest of the devastating 2011 quake and is on a different fault line.
In Other News Kanye West is under observation at a Los Angeles hospital following an abrupt cancellation of his concert tour on Monday. A source close to West's family told CNN that the rapper is being treated for "exhaustion" at UCLA Medical Center. The decision to hospitalize West came after Los Angeles police responded to a disturbance call, according to the source. West's wife, Kim Kardashian West, was in New York Monday to attend a charity event where her late father was being honored, but she flew back to Los Angeles when she learned of her husband's situation, the source said. As you prepare your traditional Thanksgiving feast, you may want to swap out those pilgrim salt-and-pepper shakers with a mastodon and a caveman instead. We owe a lot to this ancient duo. Without them your mom couldn't bake your favorite pumpkin pie. Gone would be your sister-in-law Celia's delicious squash casserole. And your Pinterest-ready cornucopia would be dreary. http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/24/health/gourds-saved-by-ancient-ancestors/index.html
