Identifying and Measuring Angles M4M2 Students will understand the concept of angles and how to measure them. Essential Question: How are angles measured and identified?

Let’s talk angles! How do we define the following? Acute angle - an angle that measure less than 90 degrees – think a cute little baby Obtuse – an angle that measures greater than 90 degrees – think obese Right – measures exactly 90 degrees Straight – measures 180 degrees - straight line

Let’s take a look at the protractor!

Let’s Practice Together! 1. This angle is _______ degrees. It is a(n) _________ angle.

2. This angle is _______ degrees. It is a(n) _________ angle.

3. This angle is _______ degrees. It is a(n) _________ angle.

4. This angle is _______ degrees. It is a(n) _________ angle.

5. This angle is _______ degrees. It is a(n) _________ angle.

6. This angle is _______ degrees. It is a(n) _________ angle.

Work Session- Time for you to practice on your own! First you will identify each angle as either acute, obtuse, right or straight. Then you will measure the angle and write the measurement.

Let’s check it!! 1.
