The Real and Only God There are many false gods (Acts 17: 16-23, cp. Col. 3: 5). Paul presented only one real God (Acts 17: 24-31). In this study, we shall allow the Bible to identify the real and only God for us. Introduce the real and only God, the God of the Bible. Show how Paul is preaching the real God to these Greek philosophers in Athens in Acts 17: 24-31. Paul shows that the only God is the Creator, does not need men as idols do, the benefactor, accessible, demands knowledge and repentance, and has appointed a Great Judgment Day.

The Real and Only God “23: For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you” (Acts 17). Ask the audience as to their views of God and if they are willing to come to the real and only God. Stress God’s plan of salvation, belief, repentance, confession of Jesus’ deity, and water baptism for the remission of sins (John 8: 24; Acts 17: 30, 31; Rom. 10: 9, 10; Acts 2: 38).
