INSTRUCTIONS FOR PREPARING THE PRESENTATION OF DOCTORAL THESIS PROPOSAL ELEMENTS OF THE PRESENTATION OF DOCTORAL THESIS PROPOSAL: 1. Proposed title of doctoral thesis Candidate proposes the title of doctoral thesis in agreement with the supervisor Title should reflect the main subject matter of the doctoral thesis, should be clear and informative with the purpose of demonstrating the contents and nature of the thesis as clearly as possible Recommended length of the title: up to 10 words It is recommended that the title contains key words related to the issue addressed in the doctoral thesis 2. Contents (brief overview of the presentation) Present key points of the presentation in the contents overview Follow the presented order until the end of the presentation

Research problem and subject of scientific research Briefly describe the problem (area) of doctoral thesis, which can not be solved only by gaining knowledge and studying; it being necessary to conduct scientific research leading to advancements in scientific knowledge Starting from the research problems, it is necessary to define the specific subject of scientific research in doctoral thesis 4. Motivation, purpose and objectives of research

Overview and assessment of existing research Select and analyse critically relevant literature in the subject field of scientific research Synthesis of relevant facts gathered by searching information sources and literature List bibliographic data on relevant information sources and literature 6. Hypothesis Starting from the research problem and subject of scientific research, and based on results of searching information sources and literature, the candidate should formulate a hypothesis (scientific assumption), which will be confirmed or rejected in the doctoral thesis In addition to the main hypothesis, the candidate may formulate auxiliary hypotheses

Methodology of scientific research Candidate needs to describe a procedure to be used for conducting scientific research in doctoral thesis, by applying scientific methods Candidate needs to list the scientific methods (e.g. induction and deduction method, analysis and synthesis method, experimental method, method of proofs and refutations, system theory, etc.) which will be used in research for the purpose of confirming or rejecting the formulated scientific hypothesis, and achieve the purpose and objectives of research Candidate should list all available tools and techniques to be used in applied scientific methods (e.g. mathematical tools, genetic algorithms, optimisation methods, fuzzy logic, neural networks, etc.)
