Incompatible Ions. There are times when we mix two ionic solutions together and this causes two ions that were not together to become mixed. For some combinations of ions, these become insoluble and form solids that settle out of solution. These settled solids are called precipitates (because they “fall out” like rain and snow “fall out”)

A chemical reaction that releases heat energy A chemical reaction that releases heat energy. It does this by being warmer than the surrounds so heat goes outwards. It will feel hot. A chemical reaction that ABSORBS heat energy. It does this by being COLDER than the surrounds so heat goes INwards. It will feel COLD.

Combustion. There are two main types of combustion. Complete combustion: all of the fuel gets burnt and the ONLY products are Carbon Dioxide and Water Incomplete combustion: the fuel is only partly burnt and some Carbon MONoxide or some Carbon (soot) are produced too.
