Analyze Simon's activities towards, and treatment of, the dead airman Analyze Simon's activities towards, and treatment of, the dead airman. What do these actions reveal about Simon's compassion?

Simon is much changed. "The usual brightness was gone from his eyes and he walked with a sort of glum determination like an old man." Explain.

The parachute man is soon swarmed with the flies The parachute man is soon swarmed with the flies. What does this represent? Think symbols. How is this connected to the pain Piggy gets in his head?

Simon decides to tell the others about the beast Simon decides to tell the others about the beast. "The beast was harmless and horrible; and the news must reach the others as soon as possible." Why is this so important?

Simon crawls out of the forest in the middle of a really bad thunderstorm, but instead of finding his companions he finds a single-minded hate-filled organism which kills him. What makes people in the book act like this organism?
