Puritan children were treated like little “adults” instead of children. Their lives were strict, the did not have much time for playing, and they were meant to be seen not heard. Their lives were fairly joyless.

Proctor believes it is his land because he bought it from Francis Nurse, but Putnam states that he was given that land in a will from a relative.

What causes Tituba to admit to practicing witchcraft at the end of Act I? She is afraid that she will be in more trouble if she does not admit it, so she plays along with Hale as he pushes her for information.

Based on their conversation at the beginning of Act II, describe John and Elizabeth’s relationship. Their relationship is cold and awkward. There is a lot of tension.
