Presentation transcript:

Making a decision on whether or not you should get married in college. I do or Do I wait? Making a decision on whether or not you should get married in college.

Common reasons people get married in college Religious reasons Financial purposes/college grants Sharing ever moment with one’s “soul mate” Building a life together at an early age

Statistics in Favor of a College Wedding The national average of getting married is at age 28 In 2008, over 20,000 college students were surveyed and 18% were already married In a study of over a thousand college students, the ones who were in committed relationships such as marriage were more likely to be in a better well-being pyshically and mentally In comparison, single college students were found to be more stressed, depressed, and/or anxious and more likely to be obese or overweight.

In Opposition of a College Wedding While statistics show an overall better well-being among married college students, studies often don’t shed enough light to pre-martial or similar committed relationships The average divorce and separation rate shows that 40- 50% of first marriages often end in divorce according to a 2010 report made by the National Marriage Project These numbers only increase the odds when getting married before the age of 21

In Conclusion With all the prominent, promiscuous sex common during college years among students, getting hitched in college is going against the normal according to an article by CNN.com. In fact, it’s quite rebellious nowadays. With testimonies from real couples on both sides, it is hard to say which one is the true answer to the people who have this serious question.
