Willpower/Won’t Power and the Courage Zone 03.03

LEARNING TARGETS I can identify things that are in my comfort zone and in my courage zone. I can identify supports and plan how these supports can help me move into the courage zone. I can analyze the relationship between grit and the courage zone, and determine how one can support the other. SUCCESS CRITERIA: I can identify a support in each of the 3 major roles in their life I can develop a plan of support that another person views as reasonable and actionable

Consider To what extent do you agree or disagree with this image? What are two benefits of stepping out of your comfort zone? What are two benefits of staying in the comfort zone?

Reading/Listening and Cornell Notes Create a Cornell Notes style organizer and grab a copy of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens Read pages 116-126 and add them to your notes Leave room to add information from Duckworth’s TED Talk about “Grit” In your summary section answer the following: How are the ideas of the “courage zone” and “grit” connected?

GOAL BUDDIES Think about the roles you have. We tend to get comfortable in these roles and stop pushing ourselves Consider how you can move from the comfort zone to the courage zone with these roles and create a goal for these roles Identify people and possible supports they might provide

Closure What’s an area of your life in which you feel comfortable stepping out of your comfort zone? What’s an area of your life in which you feel least comfortable in stepping from the comfort zone to the courage zone? Complete in Google Classroom.
