We will also use illustrations as well as words to understand the characters, setting, and plot of the story. We will look closer at illustrations and their meaning. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the October calendar (homework binder) Math Practice counting coin combinations using coins from home IXL Math: Money Word Problems We will learn how to solve word problems using dimes, nickels, and pennies. Spelling Choose an activity from the October Speller’s Choice Sheet (homework binder) Practice spelling math vocabulary words: dime, penny, nickel, quarter, dollar, money Writing: Personal Narratives We will continue working on our personal narratives. Great writers revise and edit their small moments before publishing a final piece. Reading Read 20 minutes every day Picture walk a story and tell what is happening before reading the story Raz-kids Draw a picture of what a tree looks like in Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter Science/SS/Health: Seasons We will compare and contrast seasonal changes using evidence of length of day/night using observational data related to how a tree changes over time.
