Team Building Purpose: The purpose this team building activity is to have all the participants work together as one unit and complete the assignment in less the given time. Assignment: Complete this assignment in 5 minutes. Divide all participants excluding the facilitators into six equal teams (no more than one member difference) Each team member must have the least possible number of friends in his/her team. Select a team manager. Team manager obtain a number from a facilitator, then move your group to that table.

Activity Time A Team Building and Introduction 5 minutes B Role Assignment Experiment Team Reflection 15 minutes C Team Presentations 4 minutes per team D Questions and Answers 1 min. after each team presentation E Activity Closure

What did we learn? Dimensional analysis Converting between systems

What did we learn? Science vocabulary versus math vocabulary Volume = actual amount in the container Capacity = the entire amount that the container may hold

College Readiness Objectives Grade 7 7.4 A generate formulas involving unit conversions within the same system (customary and metric), perimeter, area, circumference, volume, and scaling; 7.12 The student uses measures of central tendency and variability range to describe a set of data.

College Readiness Objectives Grade 8 8.1 (E) Compare and order real numbers with a calculator 8.2 (D) Use multiplication by a given constant factor (including unit rate) to represent and solve problems involving proportional relationships including conversions between measurement systems 8.12 (A) Use variability (range, including interquartile range (IQR)) and select the appropriate measure of central tendency or range to describe a set of data and justify the choice for a particular situation

College Readiness Objectives Geometry G.8 (E) Use area models to connect geometry to probability and statistics G.8 (F) Use conversions between measurement systems to solve problems in real-world situations

College Readiness Objectives MMA M.3 The student develops and implements a plan for collecting and analyzing data (qualitative and quantitative) in order to make decisions.

College Readiness Objectives Algebra II 2A.6 (C) Determine a quadratic function from its roots (real and complex) or a graph
