Describing an Event Intermediate Lesson 13

Today we are going to learn: Adjectives to describe events Extreme adjectives The difference between base and extreme adjectives

Which have you been to? sporting event music concert party festival religious event a theatrical performance (play, musical, etc.) demonstration or protest  

One thing I attended a few years ago was a rock group concert One thing I attended a few years ago was a rock group concert. It was absolutely amazing and I think one of the most positive experiences I’ve ever been part of. It felt great to see this huge crowd of people all gathered together to enjoy music. It was summer and actually it was really boiling, but it didn’t stop all these people getting together.

Small – base adjective Tiny – extreme adjective

Extreme adjectives contain the idea of ‘very’ in their definitions – ‘freezing’ means ‘very cold’ etc.

We can use very and really and extremely with base adjectives. It’s was really hot. It was very hot.

We can use absolutely and really with extreme adjectives. That was absolutely fantastic. We were really exhausted.
