Definitions DIVERSITY is the numerical representation of differing people, viewpoints, and experiences (count the people) INCLUSION means that these differing people and viewpoints are truly heard (the people count) EQUITY means resources are used to address disparities caused by structural impediments to opportunity (outcomes count).

Funder Definitions of Equity “The practice and promotion of justice and the fostering of conditions necessary for all people to achieve their full potential.” (Collins Foundation) “Racial equity is situational fairness, resulting in the inability to predict advantage or disadvantage by race, both improving social and institutional outcomes overall while closing racial gaps in those outcomes (The Woods Fund) Copyright © 2017 National Center for Family Philanthropy

Where do we “Operationalize Equity”?

Operationalizing equity in: Mission Our Mission toward an Equitable Future The Collins Foundation invests in Oregon nonprofit organizations, both rural and urban, that are dedicated to improving quality of life and well-being for the people in their communities.  As a funder and partner, we are committed to the pursuit of equity, both in how we allocate resources across Oregon’s diverse communities and how we shape our internal structures. To achieve equity in education by working with those affected and inspiring all to end racism and poverty.
