The Path of the Fool

When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise. (10:19) A worthless man digs up evil, while his words are like scorching fire. (16:27 NASB) The tongue of the wise makes knowledge appealing, but the mouth of a fool belches out foolishness. (15:2 NLT) Wise people treasure knowledge, but the babbling of a fool invites disaster. (10:14 NLT) A fool’s mouth is his ruin, And his lips are the snare of his soul. (18:7 ESV) A soothing tongue is a tree of life, But perversion in it crushes the spirit. (15:4 NIV) The devising of folly is sin, the mocker is an abomination to mankind. (24:9 ESV) With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered. (11:9 NASB) A fool’s lips bring strife, and his mouth calls for blows. (18:6 NASB) A perverse man spreads strife, and a slanderer separates intimate friends.(16:28) There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
