The Mixing of Religion 2 Kings 17 The Samaritans

Why Do We Imitate Certain Things, But Not Others? Imitation Why Do We Imitate Certain Things, But Not Others? King Ahaz

The 1st Mixture The End of Both Nations Has Come Because Both Have Mixed Sin With God’s Law. Israel Will Be 1st (Ch. 17) Judah Will Be 2nd (Ch. 18) Chapter 17 Details How They Diluted the Pure Law of God With Sin.

The 1st Mixture Feared Other Gods (8) Did Sinful Things Secretly (9) Walked in the Custom of the Nations Driven Out (9) Built High Places In All Cities (10) Set Up Sacred Pillars On Every Hill and Under Ever Tree (10) Burned Incense to Other gods On the High Places (11) Served Idols (12) Refused the Prophets (13) Rejected God’s Statutes and Covenant (15) Followed Vanity and Went After the Nations Around Them (15) Made Moten Images, Even Two Calves (Jeroboam, 16) Worshipped All the Host of Heaven and Served Baal (16) Made Their Children Pass Through the Fire of Fake gods (17) Practiced Divination and Enchantments (17) Sold Themselves to do Evil (17) Provoked God to Anger (17)

The 1st Departure God Removed Them From His Purity and Blessings. King Hosea (17:1-6). King Shalmaneser

The 2nd Mixture Some of the Israelites Remained in Samaria. The King Filled the Land With Gentile Captives, Thus Mixing the People (17:24-25). This Mixture Didn’t Go Any Better . 1 Priest Was Sent to Teach All the People (17:27-28). This Is Like Leaving All the Evangelism to the Preacher.

The 3rd Mixture * This Mixture Was the Worst of Them All. This New Nation, Eventually Called the Samaritans, Mixed Idolatry With Judaism (17:29-33). John 4:19-20 “The woman said to Him, ‘Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.’”
