Presentation transcript:

In a high scoring day at Flackwell Heath it was Simon Shaw who took top honours, narrowly beating Chris Hill, with both of them posting big scores. Simon’s win gives him a massive seven point lead in the Golfer’s Championship with only two events left to play this season. There were five players tied for the last podium place but it was veteran Peter Phillips who sneaked in with a useful back nine. Elsewhere, Wayne Herring must wonder what he has to do to win something as he was three over for the day, bagging to birdies on the way, only to be rewarded for a 6th place finish with a handicap cut! Phil Gray had a day to forget and found himself handing out the trophies. As most of you will know Dave Yeardley sadly passed away on 7th August and the Society was well represented at his funeral on 30th August, which was much appreciated by Chris and his family, well done to those that attended. Dave had been with the Society from the start, rarely missing any golf days or trips, even when his health was poor, often still carrying his bag. When he played for the last time he had a buggy and would walk to his ball using his walking stick, hit his shot and then walk bag to his buggy using the stick again. Dave will be greatly missed and in due course we will be holding some sort of golfing memorial occasion for him.
