Mass and Weight Tools Force Scale (such as a Spring Scale) Digital Scale Triple Beam Balance
Spring Scale Will measure the weight of an object to the nearest Newton (the metric unit for weight). Make sure object is hanging free.
Triple Beam Balance Will measure the mass of an object to a tenth of a gram. Before using, slide all three scales to 0 and make sure it is balanced! Always move the largest scale first, then the smaller scales. Make sure the scales are securely locked into place!
Vernier Caliper A device that lets the user measure more precisely than could be done unaided when reading a uniformly- divided straight or circular measurement scale. It is scale that indicates where the measurement lies in between two of the marks on the main scale.
