Year 11 Subject Selection – Health & Human Development
Course Description Unit 1: The Health of Australia’s Youth In this unit students identify issues that have an impact on the health and individual human development of Australia’s youth. Students investigate one health issue in detail and analyse personal, community and government strategies or programs that affect youth health and individual human development. Unit 2: Individual Human Development and health issues In this unit students identify issues that affect the health and individual human development of Australia’s mothers and babies, children and adults. Students investigate health issues in detail and analyse personal, community and government strategies and programs that affect the health and individual human development of mothers and babies, children and adults.

Subject pathway…. Year 11 HHD (units 1 & 2) will lead directly into Year 12 HHD (units 3 & 4) Year 11 HHD isn’t a prerequisite for Year 12 HHD (ie. you can do 3 & 4 without having done 1 & 2) Many university courses encompass large aspects of the HHD course (eg. Nursing, Phys Ed, Human Movement, Applied Science, Chiro, Physio, Medicine) so it is a very beneficial subject to do if you are thinking of doing any of those courses in the future
