Today’s Objective Students will construct an essay that explains how and why the Romans persecuted the Christians, with supporting evidence.

Document A: Textbook The relationship between the Romans and the Christians was tense. The Romans treated the Christians poorly, they were persecuting the Christians. The Romans persecuted the Christians because they felt threatened by the Christians.

Document B: Tacitus The Christians were persecuted by the Romans in a very public way. The Romans persecuted the Christians because Nero blamed them for the fire, they were charged with hatred for mankind.

Document C: Professor Cassel The Romans did not understand the Christians The Romans persecuted the Christians because the Romans misunderstood/misinterpreted the Christian bible.
