The items we currently recycle are: Newspaper Office paper Cardboard (anything that tears grey or brown ) Aluminum Cans Tin Food Cans Plastic bottles or jugs #1-#7

Cardboard: Please be sure that all food containers, such as cereal boxes, cracker boxes or cardboard boxes are all empty and free of any liners, peanuts or packing materials and that all boxes are flattened. Any boxes that tear brown or grey go in with cardboard, anything that tears white goes in with office paper. Paper : Paper recycling includes newspaper, computer paper, copy paper, office paper and magazines. Make sure all paper is DRY! Wet paper is garbage, not recycling. This is the most common mistake made in recycling. When you go to all of the work to recycle your paper and put it out in the rain, it becomes garbage. DO NOT PUT ANY PAPER OUT UNLESS IT IS DRY AND IS GOING TO STAY DRY. Your dry paper can be ruined when other paper is wet from rain.

Cardboard : Any kind of box can be recycled if - when you tear it - the tear is brown or grey. You have to remember to make sure boxes are empty, clean, free of packing, and flattened. Paper : HAS TO BE DRY ! Don’t put it out for recycling if there is any chance it can get wet!

Cans : Must be clean & empty! A ny liquid or food in them can spill and ruin the paper products. We accept food cans that are lined or unlined, clean tin foil, clean aluminum pie pans or any clean disposable aluminum pans. No cookware, aerosol cans, car parts or any other types of metal. All of your cans and your plastic jugs and bottles, which we are going to talk about next, can all be mixed together in your container or recycling bin. If you are putting recycle out in something other than a recycling bin, you need to mark it as recycling and set it completely away from the garbage - so it is easy to identify as recycling from the street.

We are now accepting #1-#7 Plastic Bottles & Jugs They must be EMPTY & CLEAN! Any food, cleaning agent, or residue left in them makes them garbage not recycling. Anything left in the bottles and jugs not only ruins your recycling but it contaminates any materials it comes in contact with. We take only BOTTLES & JUGS - No Styrofoam, packing materials, peanuts, plastic toys, or lawn furniture or anything else that is plastic. only bottles & jugs.

Many communities are losing their curbside recycling programs because of poor quality material. Only the cleanest material can be marketed in these times when there is so much competition. Every piece of recycling material has to be hand sorted by workers. Proper preparation is essential to keep the costs down. Keeping the cost of processing down is the only way to continue offering curbside recycling without costs to the participants. If your are interested in recycling and what you can do for the environment, you have to be committed to doing it to the best of your ability. Recycling is extremely important for our world but it is not free. It is much more expensive for us to recycle material than it would be to landfill it. Please help us keep this very important program and work to make it something we can all be proud of.

Recycling Facts Do not put your newspaper out for recycling if it could get wet, it will have to be thrown away All boxes must be empty, free of packing and broken down All jugs & containers have to be empty and clean Make sure your cans are empty and clean Do not put anything in your recycling bin that is not a listed item from your recycler Make sure you set your recycling completely away from your garbage Help us monitor the program, report people who abuse the program or are stealing materials Thank you Illini Recycling Co.
