The Greatest Of These 1 Cor. 13:13 Purpose: To show the importance of love in our lives.

Introduction Love is in short supply today. It is easy to love those who love us. But what about others? Our enemies? The lost? Those who hurt us? God loved us when we didn’t deserve it. John 3:16; Rom. 5:8. We need to learn to love the unlovable as well.

The love chapter 1 Cor. 13 shows faith, hope, love. Love is greater, but we need all three! The absence of love… 1 Cor. 13:4-8. What love will and will not do. Love is not merely doing the right things. It is caring as you do the right things.

Jimmy, an orphan Jimmy, a 10 year old orphan, falls into a lake and begins to drown. Two different endings for the story. One shows what it means to be rescued. The other shows what it means to be loved.

Love in action Mark 12:28-34. Top two commandments are to love. John 14:23-24. To love is to obey. John 13:34-35. Love demonstrates discipleship. 1 Peter 4:8. Love will help overcome sin.

Conclusion When love is absent our world falls apart. Love is the glue that holds it together. Remember, God loves us not because of who we are, but because of who He is. Without love, nothing else matters.
