CHAPTER 23 NURSING CAREERS
Presentation transcript:

Tell the World Project Susan Fenner

My idea For my project I decided to “Tell the World” about the nurses that work at Sentara Greene Family Medicine where I work. I thought it would be a great idea to educate the patients about the nurses that work there and take care of them. Often, our patients don’t know how much experience we have. Sometimes they don’t even know we are registered nurses unless we tell them! I thought this would be a great way to educate our patients about our background and education.

My Project I put a picture and some information about each nurse on paper. I hung the papers in the waiting room at our clinic. We loved hearing what the patient’s had to say. A lot of them were surprised at the experience we have. I also included some input from each nurses provider.

Examples The next two slides have examples of what I did for each nurse, including myself.

Nurse #1   Jennifer has been a registered nurse since 2013. She received her Associates Degree in nursing at Piedmont Virginia Community College and she is currently working on getting her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She is thinking about eventually becoming a Nurse Practitioner. She worked at a skilled nursing facility after graduating and becoming a nurse. She has worked at UVA on the gastroenterology unit. She has been at Sentara Greene Family Medicine since December 2015. Jennifer works with one of our nurse practitioners Brooke Kunstbeck. Brooke says that Jennifer is fun to work with and makes coming to work enjoyable. Jennifer Lawson, RN

Nurse #2 Loretta has been a registered nurse since 2010. She received her Associates Degree in nursing at Piedmont Virginia Community College. She then worked at a nursing home for 2 years. She started working at UVA in 2012 on their cardiovascular unit where she worked for a year and a half. She then transferred to UVA’s Labor and Delivery unit. While working there, she went back to school and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University. She started working at Sentara Greene Family Medicine in July 2016. She is currently working on obtaining her Master’s degree in Nursing Informatics at Western Governor’s University and is set to graduate next year. Loretta works with our newest provider, Dr. Rice. Dr. Rice says that Loretta is a hard worker and provides excellent care to her patients. Loretta Reed, RN, BSN
