Examples

Houses of Hospitality- Peter Maurin We need Houses of Hospitality to give to the rich the opportunity to serve the poor. 2. We need Houses of Hospitality to bring the scholars to the workers or the workers to the scholars. 3. We need Houses of Hospitality to bring back to institutions the technique to institutions. to show what idealism looks like when it is practised.

Why is hospitality important? Everyone deserves and desires to be treated with dignity and respect Hospitality puts everyone on the same level- it says there are no differences between you and I, we are both human beings and both deserve to be treated as such Hospitality formation of trust  conversations, formation of relationships Brings us together

“We show hospitality to strangers not merely because they need it, but because we need it, too. The stranger at the door is the living symbol and memory that we are all strangers here. This is not our house, our table, our food, our lodging; this is God's house and table and food and lodging. We were pilgrims and wanderers, aliens and strangers, even enemies of God, but we, too, were welcomed into this place. To show hospitality to the stranger is, as Gordon Lathrop has observed, to say, "We are beggars here together. Grace will surprise us both.” ― Thomas G. Long, Beyond the Worship Wars: Building Vital and Faithful Worship

Siena/Francis House “The mission of the Siena/Francis House is directed toward a concern and care of the poor. This mission is realized in feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and clothing the needy. This mission extends beyond merely answering physical needs to the acceptance and affirmation of the human person, the creation of an atmosphere of hospitality, and the provision of purpose and meaning in the lives of people who struggle for survival. It is also the mission of the Siena/Francis House to call the greater Omaha community to a social consciousness and to enlist help and support in the care of the homeless and the indigent.”

An Atmosphere of Hospitality Provide food (1,000+ meals each day) Provide clothing (20 tons each year) Provide shelter (up to 450+ people each night) Provide health care and mental health care Provide legal assistance Provide hope Employment training program Case management and outreach services Residential addiction recovery program- Miracles Treatment Center Provide dignity and respect Guests are brought their meals Guests help run the shelter
