History of Technology in the Classroom Technology in classrooms has certainly changed over time. I can remember when I first started school, and there were chalkboards in every classroom. Now there are not even boards in some classrooms. Most people in the 21st century can not even believe the earliest technology. I have a hard time believing that those items would even be consider technology. The earliest technology dates back to 1650s which a Wooden paddles with printed lessons. That 365 years ago, 4,380 mouths ago, and 133,225 days ago. Which is a long time ago.
Other Historical Technology 1870 The predecessor to the slide machine, the magic lantern projected images printed on glass plates. By the end of World War I, Chicago’s public-school system had a collection of some 8,000 lantern slides. 1940 The Mimeograph surviving into the Xerox age, the mimeograph produced copies through a hand-crank mechanism 1980 The Plato Computer, 1999 Interactive Whiteboard, I’ve never heard of some of these historical objects!
Technology in today’s Classroom Technology has changed so much over the years as a person can see from the previous slide. In today’s classroom we have laptops, tablets, and IPad. These devices can really enhance a students knowledge of things beyond the classroom. However, these devices are very coasty. Technology Hardware Technology Hardware price Laptops About $300 Tablets About $100 IPads About $350
Technology vs. Non-Technology Technology has many different tools that can help a person achieve faster and better. There are so many different type of software that a person can use in order to gain better reading skills and math skills. The students enjoy learning this way. Before technology schools didn’t have a choose, but to use paper and pencil. However that way is long and boring. But using technology can hinder a students learning.
Other Reasons why Technology should Be in the Classroom As we already know, Technology offers more ways that the students could learn. Students using technology will cause them to act, and think independently. Often, an educator doesn’t really know how much a student knows, technology offers an opportunity to build on their on knowledge base. Technology goes beyond the classroom, it connects to the whole world.
Technology could be a Hinders Technology hinders students’ ability to actually write and communicate face to face. With technology involved they are likely to not to communicate with one another. Technology takes away from their critical thinking skills and their ability to do homework on their own. Educators believed students are being conditioned by the internet to find quick answers, leading to a loss of concentration. Technology can be a burden to many parents, and school districts budgets.
Education Changes Everything Education really does play a major role in education. It really does belong.
What I Believe about Technology Technology is defiantly apart of our would today. It helps us in so many different ways. I feel that technology should be incorporated in to our curriculum, but it should not be the main focus. Learning should be the main focus. Technology is just a tool that help along the way just like pencil and paper. We should not try to force our students to use technology, or get rid of technology. When should educate them by any means necessary.
