For more information, visit www.hoby.org HOBY Leadership Summer Ambassador Program Sophomores ONLY For more information, visit www.hoby.org Students, do you have what it takes? Do you want to be an Ambassador from your high school for Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY)? “HOBY Ambassadors,” are high school students selected as representatives from their high schools because they have demonstrated the potential to lead others. Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBY programs provide youth selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences. HOBY alumni are leaders in their schools and communities, throughout the United States and the world, making a difference for others through service. Attending a HOBY program is a great chance for you to stand out and be outstanding; to show others who you are and what you can do. It’s an open door to lifelong leadership and service opportunities. During the HOBY experience, you will discover and sharpen your leadership skills; you will come face-to-face with current leaders in such fields as government, media, business and education; and, you will be taught how to think, not what to think, empowering you to value your own opinions and ideas, and to find the courage to express those opinions among your peers. Then, HOBY will challenge you to take your experience back to your home, school and community and make a difference for others. Basha High School will choose one ambassador (and one alternate ambassador) to attend the summer 2018 seminar to be held June 7 – 10, 2018 ~ ASU West Campus, Glendale, AZ Here’s how to apply: In 300 words or less please describe the most rewarding and challenging aspects of being a leader in your community. (Essays longer than 300 words will not be considered.) Return your essay to Mrs. Fassinger in the Career Center by DECEMBER 11, 2017 at 12:00 noon Return your essay directly to Mrs. Fassinger in C-201 - do not put it under the door, in my mailbox or on my desk. Thank you.
